Single Serve Honey Baked Apple

Single Serve Honey Baked Apple

Vegan, Gluten Free, Paleo + Refined Sugar Free.

This is the perfect single serve dessert for a crisp fall afternoon. It’s easy to make, has an amazing fall flavor and will warm you up instantly! I love this recipe because you only need 4 ingredients to make it, it’s full of amazing nutritional value and it’s FALL Y’ALL.

Enjoying this honey baked apple is basically like eating the inside of an apple pie minus the added sugar and buttery pie crust. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a sucker for a good old-fashioned apple pie, but sometimes I don’t want all the added sugar and carbs. I also have to mention, when I do make an apple pie it takes me almost 2 hours! Luckily this recipe is quick and easy to whip up. You just bake the apple in the oven for 45 minutes and your healthy dessert, snack or breakfast is ready to enjoy. Top with creamy almond butter, pepitas (pumpkin seeds) or your favorite granola for that extra fall flavor. I hope you enjoy one of my favorite fall snacks!

Ingredients you’ll need:

How to make?

Step one: Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Begin by washing off your apple and cutting it in half. Using a paring knife, cut out the core of each apple half. (Helpful tip: I sometimes use a small spoon to scoop out the remainder of the core).

Step two: Place each apple half face up in a small oven friendly bowl (or loaf pan). Sprinkle the apple halves with apple pie spice (or just cinnamon + nutmeg) and drizzle with honey or maple syrup for a more “fall like” flavor.

Step three: Pour water into the bottom of the bowl/pan and bake in oven for 45-55 minutes depending on how soft you like your apples. The water helps steam the apples, keeping them moist and tender. The longer you bake it the softer it will get. Remove from oven and let cool for 3-5 minutes. Top with creamy almond butter, pumpkin seeds, extra cinnamon and granola to add even more fall flavor.
